Resilient Maryland Revolving Loan Fund

The first such group in the U.S., the Maryland 9-1-1 Board is a diverse team of 9-1-1 system subject matter experts and stakeholders brought together by the Governor to coordinate the enhancement of county 9-1-1 systems across Maryland.

The Board ensures an effective, innovative, and efficient 9-1-1 system for all of Maryland by leading, educating, and collaborating with stakeholders, partners, counties, and communities.

More About The Board

The Maryland 9-1-1 Board was established in 1979 (Ch. 730, Acts of 1979) to coordinate the installation and enhancement of county 9-1-1 emergency telephone number servies systems. As technology has advanced, this has expanded to support for the establishment and enhancement of modern "Public Safety Answering Points" (PSAPs), which now include multiple means of contacting and dispatching emergency services.

The Board determines the guidelines and procedures for reviewing and approving (or disapproving) county plans for 9-1-1 systems, as well as sets the criteria by which counties can be reimbursed from Maryland's 9-1-1 Trust Fund.

Each of the Board's 17 members is appointed to a 4-year term by the Governor, and confirmed by the Maryland State Senate. The Chair is selected from those members by the Governor directly.
